“Fauna & Flora” is a collaboration by Blake Jamieson and Christina Oiticica.
In a new project by Christina Oiticica, the Brazilian artist works in collaboration with American artist Blake Jamieson, from Brooklyn, NY.
In what has become Oiticica’s signature artistic approach, she will intervene on Jamieson’s paintings after which they will be buried for nine months, so that nature can imprint its mark on the works.
The paintings will be buried on the green slopes at the Whitepod Hotel in Monthey, Switzerland, each one in a hole approximately the size of the canvas. Once the intervention on the site is completed, it will be restored.
This event, attended by a number of invited guests and followed by a cocktail party, is scheduled for 17 August 2022.
Also part of the “Fauna & Flora project are the production of a video documenting the progress of the project and an exhibition of the final works.
Oiticica has carried out similar projects in a variety of locations, such as the Amazon forest and the sacred paths of St. James in Spain and Kumano Kodo in Japan.
